Cordis in custodia

In the glorious musical epochs of the 17th and 18th centuries, Italy gave the world some of the greatest composers, whose compositional innovations and virtuoso style had a lasting influence on music throughout Europe.

The stars of these eras were the vocal castrati. Many works were written to demonstrate their singing abilities and special voices - whether on the opera stage, in church or in private chamber concerts. The audience celebrated its stars. The program "Countertenor Duets" gives an impression of what concerts might have sounded like during this period: The ensemble Cordis in custodia, a duo of two countertenors will perform expressive virtuoso duets and arias, accompanied by theorbo, harpsichord and cello.

Doron Schleifer began performing solo roles as a boy in the synagogue of the Hebrew Union College Jerusalem, where his father Eliyahu Schleifer served as cantor. After studying at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Doron Schleifer continued his master's studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland, where he studied with Evelyn Tubb, Anthony Rooley, Gerd Türk and Andreas Scholl.

David Feldman was nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Classical Vocal Album in 2017. He graduated from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and subsequently studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland.
