Concert Royal Köln takes up the musical exchange between Baroque composers from central and northern Germany, as it was practised in Handel's time, with this programme. Oboe sonatas by Elias Bronnemüller, who taught Johann Mattheson in Hamburg, Johann Wilhelm Hertel, who was born in Thuringia but worked mainly in Mecklenburg, and Georg Friedrich Handel are juxtaposed with harpsichord works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Adam Reincken, who was cantor at St. Catherine's Church in Hamburg during Handel's time there.
