featuring works by Georg Friedrich Handel, Johann Mattheson and Georg Philipp Telemann, amongst others
What do contemporary sources tell us about Georg Friedrich Handel’s life, and what music was played in the places where he worked? In this narrated concert, excerpts from John Mainwaring’s first biography of Handel are interwoven with works by Handel and his contemporaries to take the audience on a journey through Halle, Hamburg, Italy and London. In this way, biographical and musical accounts engage in dialogue, offering insights into Handel’s life and work across Europe.
