An extraordinary concert awaits the audience: renowned tuba player Gianmario Strappati and pianist Elena Postumi present a varied programme ranging from Baroque concertos to Romantic opera melodies and virtuoso showpieces. Works by Albinoni, Bellini, Brahms, Puccini, Rossini, Paganini, Rimsky-Korsakov and Monti promise an evening full of contrasts and musical discoveries.
The focus is on the tuba, an instrument that is often underestimated in classical music. It can produce not only powerful depths, but also surprisingly lyrical and agile sounds. When playing a longer passage, a tuba player actually moves several litres of air per second: an impressive physical feat that makes the instrument a true endurance instrument.
