Ensemble Amaconsort

George Frideric Handel is known, among other things, for his extensive operatic output, a significant part of which was written in London and performed under his direction. But what was presented on English stages in earlier times? What forms of musical theater existed before opera? This concert is a short journey through the history of stage music in England, from the masque to Handel's opera. The title of the program refers to Jeremiah Clarke's "musical interlude" of the same name, excerpts of which will be heard.

Four young musicians unite to form Amaconsort, with the desire to play the multifaceted repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries in a lively in-the-moment manner. The ensemble's diverse instrumentation allows the audience to experience a broad spectrum of tonal colors, and inspires the musicians to continually make new sonic discoveries. Amaconsort has been awarded various prizes, including the 1st prize of the "Van Wassenaer Concours" (2021) and the special prize of BR Klassik in the German Music Competition (2019).
