Virtuoso escapades on frame drums, Italian tamburello, Austrian Jew's harp or Indian castanets are framed by witty anecdotes about the wondrous world of being a musician: Peter A. Bauer, the multi-percussionist from Leipzig, who has performed on all continents with baroque music ensembles as well as his own pop music projects, can draw on 30 years of stage experience in his entertaining solo programme.
In addition to a solo version of Ravel's Bolero, a cover version of Prince on Arabic drums and John Playford's Chirping of the Nightingale on the Jew's harp, the audience can expect rhythm puzzles and nose flute melodies. Peter Bauer's motto: a concert should never be boring. So the audience will have no choice but to participate creatively in the music.
Peter A. Bauer is in demand throughout Europe as a specialist for historical percussion. He has been the percussionist of the Lautten Compagney Berlin since 2002 and a permanent member of the renaissance group Capella de la Torre since 2008. He has played in various crossover projects with these ensembles, which have led to collaborations with Michel Godard and Nils Landgren. He has worked as a percussionist and arranger on over 70 CDs of baroque and renaissance music. His new speciality is acting as a noisemaker: baroque opera productions often require the sound of the forest, wind, birdsong or even the crackling of a campfire.
