Young Handel Dreaming

An electroacoustic appropriation

This is not the first time that the performance collective Guricht (Halle–Berlin) has devoted itself to the world of George Frideric Handel. Thies Streifinger previously composed an exciting interplay of baroque and electronic music, dance and video art for a contemporary version of Alcina as part of the Handel Festival. Ralf Wendt, in turn, co-curated the electric renaissance art festival for the festival, at which Burghard Vogel presented video art together with international musicians. In 2026, the collective will turn its attention to the young Handel: it will explore – playfully and speculatively – the concerns and doubts of the budding composer in the world of the Baroque. With polyphonic soundscapes and an extraordinary range of instruments, the live performance allows the young Handel to shine anew in the special atmosphere of the Halle Planetarium.
