St. Moritz Church
An der Moritzkirche 9
06108 Halle
Germany
The Late Gothic parish church, built by the architect Conrad von Einbeck, is the oldest church in the city. This hall church with its seven bays is dedicated to Saint Maurice. On the west side, you can still see remains of the former city walls and to the north side, the building of the former hospice, the Johannisspital. The pastor and city Stadtsuperintendent, Justus Jonas, a companion of Martin Luther, implemented the Reformation in Halle: in 1543, he wrote a new Church Order for the city of Halle.
