The theme of the 2026 Handel Festival – Images of Men: Heroes, Rulers, Heartbreakers – highlights the tensions between strength and vulnerability, power and powerlessness, role models and inner feelings. These questions are particularly tangible for people with disabilities or psychophysical characteristics: they often experience exclusion when their perceptions or expressions do not conform to social norms. The multi-day workshop addresses this topic and opens up a space where diversity counts rather than norms. Theater, music, and dance therapy methods are used to open up space for individual forms of expression. Handel's music thus creates a shared artistic experience in which differences do not divide, but unite. New images of heroes emerge – not invulnerable, but honest, diverse, and strong in community.
