Kombüse Liebe meets Händel-Festspiele

Kombüse Party © Sergei Frost

Colourful, bubbling over with energy – and queer. That sums up the parties of collective Kombüse Liebe, which is affiliated to AIDS-Hilfe Halle / Sachsen-Anhalt Süd e. V. Since its inception in early 2019, with its team of some 15 volunteers it has rapidly established itself as a permanent fixture in the regional culture scene. The collective is known especially for its spectacular CSD after-show parties, where drag performances, live music and DJ sets featuring disco, techno, pop and hip-hop meet. Besides good humour, the focus is on safe spaces for queer people. With lovingly designed décor, glitter and creative party events such as speed dating and karaoke, it creates spaces for community, joie de vivre and visibility. At the Handel Festival, its party represents a queer take on the Handel Festival title more than any other event. Old role models are stripped away and individual, alternative models celebrated, making the party a performance in itself about love and identity – loud, sensual and liberating.

In cooperation with Kombüse Liebe and with the participation of AIDS-Hilfe Halle / Sachsen-Anhalt Süd e. V.
