“Amour Fou” is a new pasticcio programme by the composer and bassoonist Burak Özdemir and his Baroque ensemble, Musica Sequenza. The project combines Handel’s most ecstatic opera arias and tells a scintillating love story. The passionate emotions of love: joy, humour, pain, envy and grief are all portrayed as “uncontrollable love”. The work is written for three soloists: Özdemir’s Baroque bassoon, the modern dance of choreographer Jiří Bartovanec Bartovanec and the voice of the tenor Anders Dahlin, accompanied on period instruments from the 18th century by the ensemble Musica Sequenza, of which Özdemir is the founder and artistic director.
