It's Session Time! 18th Jazz Summer at the Handel House

The young Anna-Marie Herda from Halle began her singing career in the Halle Opera Youth Choir and at performances as part of the Women in Jazz festival (2016, 2019) and is now working on her own projects. One of these is the ensemble "gavgav:, which was founded in 2021. The trio, consisting of vocals, accordion and electric guitar, has been setting Herda's compositions to music ever since, layering radical lyrics over advanced song forms. The music of "gavgav: skillfully resolves contradictions between gentle melancholy and programmatic abstraction and at the same time testifies to deep beauty and aesthetic courage. With her warm, clear voice, Anne-Marie Herda sometimes gently and harmoniously, sometimes bizarrely and boldly leads over long cliffs into distant regions. The sound of vocals, guitar and accordion is often interwoven into a two-dimensional foundation and has its very own individual charm. The first studio recordings in 2022 were followed by numerous concerts and a tour in 2023. Recordings for the debut album of "gavgav: are planned for spring 2024.
