The TARS ensemble was born of the enthusiasm of three students, who studied at three different music universities in Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, for Baroque music. In only a short time, the ensemble has succeeded in developing something of a style all of its own. With their powerful, vivacious and nuanced playing style, the instrumentalists breathe new life into the music of the Baroque. “We want to play our favourite music the way we like to hear it most: energetically and never by the book. Also, we love the risk that live performance entails.” The ensemble was rewarded with a 2019 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb scholarship. Named after the folk song The leaves be green, the concert covers the rich court music culture of England spanning the sixteenth to the eighteenth century.
