The celebrated Belgian musician Jos van Immerseel has been in search of authentic sound all his life, which is why he prefers instruments from the period in which the music was written. Besides Handel, he devotes his harpsichord recital “Handel and France” to works by Jean-Philippe Rameau. He is especially interested in the rhetorical figures in the music. Alternatively, you could say that music speaks to him – and he wants to understand what it is saying. This openness and this taste for painstaking exploration, of which he has so many times provided evidence as a conductor, chamber musician and harpsichordist, make his concerts a celebration of the art of playing, in which the music speaks – and not only to Jos van Immerseel.
