An anniversary – this year marks the 350th anniversary of the birth of Reinhard Keiser – is one of the reasons for this programme in which the two opera composers, Keiser and Handel, are presented in a kind of pasticcio. When he moved to Italy in 1705 and, later, from there to London, Handel was deeply influenced by Keiser’s melodies in particular. The listener is swept along on an exciting journey through an entertaining programme of music by both in mixed order, which illustrates and brings to life different affects in opera. The two young Handel stars, Kateryna Kasper and Andreas Wolf, perform this “pasticcio” either as vocal soloists or in duet, supported and complemented by the orchestra La Stagione Frankfurt conducted by Michael Schneider, who is also behind the original idea for this programme.
