The history of vacuum salt extraction is documented at the Halle Salt-Panners and Saltworks Museum on the site of the former Royal Prussian Saltworks, subsequently the Salt-Panners’ (Pfännerschäftlich) Saltworks. This is an outstanding industrial complex of great historical interest with typical saltworks architecture of the eighteenth to twentieth centuries and one of the oldest historical monuments of its kind in Germany. Demonstrations of salt-boiling provide a direct insight into how salt was produced here in the nineteenth century.
