“... Orliński‘s countertenor, darkly timbred with radiant high notes, is compelling through all registers, coloratura and legato phrases. His youthful fame as a musician of opera and concerts is based on his Baroque specialist’s art of phrasing” (Tagesspiegel 8.6.2022). With Jakub Józef Orliński one of the most dazzling countertenors of the present will be making his debut in Halle. In just a few short years, the breakdance and hip-hop fan Jakub Józef Orliński has become one of today’s most sought-after countertenors. Now, he will be revealing the art of Baroque song by Handel (1685–1759) and Bononcini (1670–1747), the two great rival operatic composers of London, together with the brilliant early music orchestra, Capella Cracoviensis. The musical locking of horns between Handel and Bononcini, which gradually degenerated into out-and-out rivalry in 1720s London, is set to be a crowd-puller as it was then. In Halle, the winner would without a doubt appear to be – tongue-in-cheek, let it be said – Handel! But the contemporaries of the two protagonists feuded bitterly!
