A Halle Opera production as part of the Handel Festival
Organised by: Theater, Oper und Orchester GmbH
In 1713, Handel had been in London for just three years and with his new opera, Teseo, wished to repeat the phenomenal success of his Rinaldo. With his librettist Nicola Francesco Haym, he therefore returned to the genre of magic opera; here, the young hero Teseo takes on the legendary sorceress Medea. To pursue her objectives, she becomes increasingly fanatical and does not shy from transforming the world into a barren, hellish landscape full of monsters and demons
