The festival address of 27 May 1922 was introduced with pomp and ceremony, accompanied by a “brass chorus with timpani” conducted by Alfred Rahlwes, which performed a march from Handel’s opera Rinaldo and movements from the Fireworks Music. One hundred years later, this musical support will take the form of a short concert featuring the renowned Baroque Trumpet Ensemble Berlin.
During this short concert, the City of Halle Handel Prize, awarded by the Handel House Foundation, will be presented to Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Hirschmann. This prize is an honorary award with no monetary value.
