In his arias, Handel uses the orchestral instruments to create colourful word paintings like few other composers. The excellent and multi-awardwinning countertenor Iestyn Davies, who is hailed in the press for his “countertenor [that] glides through the air”, provides the voice for this unique gala concert. His affinity for Handel’s work can also be seen in his voluminous recordings. La Nuova Musica provides the musical “paint”. Led by its artistic director David Bates, the orchestra is one of the UK’s most exciting young Baroque ensembles of our time. We can expect a concert of the highest possible technical and musical calibre.
