In their works, the composers of the Baroque period repeatedly placed heroes at the centre of the action and composed exceptionally emotionally moving music for them. The castrati, who dominated the opera stages of the 18th century as singers, still fascinate the music world today.
With the ensemble Cordis in custodia, which specialises in early music and is led by countertenors Doron Schleifer and David Feldman, they have found competent interpreters who are masters of their craft and bring this wonderful music to life with fantastic tonal homogeneity, technical finesse and historical knowledge. Their debut at the Handel House will feature both familiar and rarities. David Feldman has worked with leading early music ensembles and appeared as soloist on the 2017 Grammy-nominated Monteverdi CD of the La Cetra Barockorchester Basel together with Handel Prize winner Magdalena Kožená, conducted by Andrea Marcon. Doron Schleifer is also no stranger to baroque music. He has performed, for example, with La Divina Armonia conducted by Lorenzo Ghielmi and La Capella Reial de Catalunya conducted by Handel Prize winner Jordi Savall. We can be curious.
