"Some say that compared to Bononcini / Mr Handel is but a poor wretch. / Others claim that Bononcini is hardly worthy / To hold a candle for Handel. / Strange that such a quarrel should arise / Around dideldum and dideldi." - commented the writer John Byrom in 1725 in his "Epigram on the Feuds between Handel and Bononcini" on the dispute between the two composers. The musical showdown between Handel and Bononcini, which at times degenerated into a competition in 1720s London, will also be an attraction at the Handel House in Halle.

Breathtaking joy of playing, fascinating interplay as well as tonal homogeneity and intensity make the ensemble "Der musikalische Garten" unique and incomparable. All four musicians studied historical performance practice at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, among others, and are now sought-after musicians who play in many well-known musical formations. Interpretations based on historical models and a passionate style of music-making are the hallmarks of the ensemble. The vocalist will be soprano Julia Kirchner, who has been a soloist at the Handel Festival several times with her outstanding, versatile and virtuoso voice.
