Dear Handel Festival audience, dear sponsors and friends,
like you, we too are following the worldwide, unstoppable spread of the corona virus with concern. We are all going through very difficult times right now. This state of affairs, with all its cutbacks and privations, is draining, but effective control and containment of the pandemic is a top priority. We are also asking ourselves questions about protective measures against the spread of the virus and also about the form in which festivals with internationally travelling artists can be held.
With the decree of the State of Saxony-Anhalt of 17 March 2020 on measures to contain the spread of the corona virus SARS-CoV-2 in Saxony-Anhalt, the Handel House and the Wilhelm-Friedemann-Bach-Haus will not be open until 19 April 2020 inclusive. The Händel-Haus Foundation will also be closed until 19 April. As far as the timing of the Handel Festival at the end of May and June is concerned, no binding statement can be made at present in view of the rapid developments. The public authorities have not yet made any statement regarding the duration of the Handel Festival. However, we would like to inform you that if events continue to be cancelled, the Handel Festival may also be affected. Should public authorities issue instructions that have an impact on the Handel Festival, the Handel House Foundation will inform you of this. In the event of a cancellation, the ticket costs are reimbursed, but there is no entitlement to reimbursement of further expenses such as advance booking fees, travel and hotel costs, etc.
